Here’s to moms!

At Ovia, we’re so lucky to be a part of the incredible journeys millions of growing families take.

To celebrate Mother’s Day, we asked thousands of moms to tell us what this day means to them. We’ve chosen some of our favorite responses to share with you.

It means a lot of change

“This will be my first Mother’s Day. To me, it’s about celebrating the sacrifice that moms give us every day. Something I didn’t fully understand until I had my son in February. I’m looking forward to a day celebrating the fact that I am blessed enough to be a mom to our perfect little boy.”

“This is my first Mother’s Day as well. I wear many titles, but “mom” has become the most important. I want to set the best example possible for my daughter, and I think Mother’s Day is a great day to remember all of the mother figures in our lives that have been great examples for all of us.”

It means celebrating what it means to be a mom

“I’ve always been thankful for Mother’s Day because I absolutely adore my mother and my grandmother for giving me unconditional support through my first pregnancy. And I’m hoping to one day take my daughter to Mexico to see her great-grandmother. Being a mom is truly a blessing.”

“It’s special to me because I had an unplanned pregnancy when I was 19 and it led me to marrying the love of my life. Our little girl is the light of my world along with our new baby girl. I love our family, and being their mom has shaped me into the woman I am today.”

“My dad left me, my mom and two sisters for another woman when I was 7. 20 years later and I’m just finding out mom would go days without eating just so we could. Never once did we hear negativity — EVER! For my sisters and me, Mother’s Day is every day! When Father’s Day comes around, we don’t pout, we have one: we just spell it “mom” rather than “dad.” We are so blessed to have such an incredible mom, friend, and confidant!”

“This will be my second Mother’s Day. My little one was 1 month old on my first. I feel so lucky and blessed to be her mama. She keeps me on my toes and teaches me something new every day. I wish I would’ve had a better role model as a mom, but I want to strive to be better than my own.”

It means getting pampered

“I am so overwhelmed and overworked and pregnant with my second, I am just going to enjoy the day being pampered”

“I have finally found the job that I was meant to have, I was made to be a mom! I love my daughter so much, I finally understand what my parents were saying. Also, my husband is going to let me sleep in!! Lol”

“I’ve been waiting to be a mommy for years, now that I am and it’s hard, but I enjoy it. I’m going to appreciate a day of my husband pampering me and taking the role of mommy for the day.”

It means new beginnings

“This Mother’™s Day is special because my little one made us parents this year. Had a loss previously and although I felt like a mother I didn’t have my little girl with me to celebrate.”

“For me, I had my first son in 2015 and he was stillborn, and every year on Mother’s Day I’d get so down and no one would acknowledge me as a mom because I had no baby since he passed. It was so hard! Now I have a 8 month old boy and Mother’s Day is coming. I’ve been a mommy since 2015 and now I’m just a mommy of 2 boys, one in heaven, one here. Ladies, never let anyone tell you that baby wasn’t a loss or didn’t count!”

“After losing my mother 12 years ago, I waited to have kids because I wasn’t sure I could do it without her. Then, after suffering a miscarriage with my first pregnancy, I thought it wouldn’t ever happen for me. I was so thankful to have my son and daughter. I truly love being their mom.”

“This is my first Mother’s Day as a mother. I lost my first to miscarriage four months into pregnancy. After having my daughter a couple months ago, I’ve never felt better or more alive. She pushes me to better myself and to be a better person. I truly aspire to be like my grandmother who raised me.”

“My daughter will be a little over a month old on Mother’s Day, and she has done so much for me already. My fiancé passed away almost two years ago now, and the grief from that is still overwhelming sometimes, but my daughter has helped heal my broken heart.”

It means seeing my mom in a new way

“I never had a great relationship with my mom, but being a mom now helps me appreciate her in a different way and gives it new meaning. No matter what, mothers make so many sacrifices and give so much for their children — and even though my mom wasn’t that great to me, she did do all this. Thanks mom!”

“Becoming a mother has given me a greater appreciation for my own mother. I now understand what it is like to have a piece of your heart running around outside your chest. I love my mom. I can’t live without her and don’t want to. Happy Mother’s Day!”

“Being a mom has a new meaning every year, every year there’s new milestones and challenges. Being a mom has showed me unconditional love, and that I’d do anything for my kids. It also showed me not all moms deserve to be celebrated, especially my own.”

“I never understood what my mom went through till now. I can’t stop apologizing to her and I have even more appreciation for her now that I’m basically in her shoes. The love is unconditional and always will be. Xoxo”
