Winter vacations for the whole family

Itching for a getaway this winter? It sounds like a dream, but a vacation can end up being more of a hassle if your destination isn’t very kid-friendly. There are a few ways to make sure your vacation is actually a relaxing one — for the whole family!

All-inclusive resorts

These types of resorts include activities and childcare, and some even have child-friendly meals, toys, and equipment so you don’t have to lug around a giant diaper bag all day. There is often a variety of activities for both parents and kids, so everyone can enjoy their vacation. Check out resorts like Disney Resorts in Orlando, the Nickelodeon Resort in Punta Cana, or The Tyler Place resort in Vermont for great all-inclusive family options.

  • Midwest: West Beach at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore has beautiful views of Chicago, great swimming, hiking and is very family-friendly.South: Orange Beach on the Alabama Gulf shore is perfect for families with a variety of options for nearby activities such as restaurants, an amusement park, and mini golf. There are many different cruises that accommodate all ages, making them a great choice for the whole family. Disney cruise lines are constantly rated at the top of child-friendly and baby-accommodating cruises. Royal Caribbean also has an awesome baby and tots program with special care nurseries, playgroups, Mommy & Me yoga, and more. In addition to activities for all ages, both of these cruiselines have babysitting and other childcare options so you can get some “me time,” explore your destination, or just take a day to relax by the pool.

Vacation house rentals

One of the best ways to vacation with a small child is to create your own getaway! You can do this by renting a vacation house or using Airbnb in one of your favorite cities. Finding a local babysitter or bringing along family to help watch the kids is a great idea. That way, you can all enjoy time spent together, away from the hustle and bustle of home life.
